Small Group
Private deep sea and inshore fishing just 90 minutes from San José. Choose from 13 boats and yachts, from nimble 28-footers for couples to a 58 ft VIP yacht for the whole group — every one with a local captain, mate and full tackle.
Jacó and neighboring Herradura Bay sit in the heart of Costa Rica’s Central Pacific, one of the most productive stretches of coast in the country. Boats leave from the protected waters of Herradura and can be on offshore grounds for sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi in a short ride.
Closer to shore, the rocky islands and points between Jacó and the Gulf of Nicoya hold roosterfish, cubera snapper, jacks and grouper — perfect for a half day or for anglers who want non-stop action on light tackle.

Start with what you want to catch and how your group likes to spend the day.
Work the rocky points and islands for roosterfish, cubera snapper, jacks and grouper. A half day on a compact boat is often all you need.
Head offshore for sailfish, blue and black marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi and wahoo. Full-day trips on a sportfisher give you the most time on the fish.
Bigger boats bring shade, restrooms, cabins and room to relax — ideal for families, celebrations and mixed groups of anglers and non-anglers.
The Central Pacific offers both offshore pelagics and hard-fighting inshore species year-round, with seasonal peaks.
Most Jacó charters depart from Herradura Bay, about 10–15 minutes north of Jacó town. Some boats use the nearby Los Sueños Marina. We confirm the exact meeting point for your boat when you book.
You can fish Jacó all year. Sailfish are usually strongest from December through April, while tuna, mahi-mahi and marlin show up in good numbers during the green season. Roosterfish and snapper are caught inshore year-round.
Choose offshore if you’re after sailfish, marlin, tuna or mahi-mahi. Choose inshore for roosterfish, snapper and jacks, shorter runs and calmer water — a great fit for families and half days.
Yes. Most boats run both half-day and full-day trips. Half days work especially well for inshore fishing; full days give you more time offshore.
