Tamarindo is an easy fishing base if you’re staying in town or nearby at Langosta, Playa Grande or Hacienda Pinilla. Captains can work rocky points and reefs close to the beach, or run out to deeper water where the pelagics feed.
Full-day offshore trips target sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi and wahoo. Inshore, expect roosterfish, snapper, jacks and amberjack around structure and bait schools.

Questions before you book
Is Tamarindo better for offshore or inshore fishing?
Both. Offshore is best for sailfish, marlin, tuna and mahi-mahi; inshore is great for roosterfish, snapper and jacks. Your target species and how long you want to be out decide the best option.
Should I book a half day or a full day?
A half day works well for inshore fishing and families. Choose a full day when billfish or tuna are the goal, so the crew has time to reach the best offshore water.
Which Tamarindo boat should I choose?
OutCast suits up to 4 active anglers who want a hands-on, mostly inshore day. Runaway is the all-rounder for up to 5. Talking Fish adds the most comfort for longer offshore trips.
When is the best time to fish in Tamarindo?
Sailfish peak from December through April. Marlin, tuna and mahi-mahi are strong in the green season, and roosterfish and snapper are caught year-round.
Are these private charters?
Yes. Every boat on this page is a private charter — the boat and crew are reserved just for your group.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Every angler on board needs a Costa Rica fishing license, which you can buy online before your trip. We’ll explain how when we confirm your boat.
Is Flamingo an option if I’m staying in Tamarindo?
Yes. Flamingo is a short drive north and has larger, air-conditioned boats for up to 8. Send us your hotel and we’ll compare both.
